<p>My D is looking at several schools for Studio Art (she's a painter) and I just discovered New Paltz. Can anybody tell me how the Studio Art program is there, how it compares in quality to Purchase?</p>

<p>My son is an art major at SUNY New Paltz (graphic design) but he has taken lots of studio art courses, some required and some not. He has had a good experience and feels the studio art is strong at New Paltz. The school tends to attract creative students and the small class sizes make for a nice community feeling.
