So, I looked on the stanford admissions site and the supplement is missing. Does anyone know where I can find it?

maybe it isn't up yet.
... does submitting the art/music supplement actually help in terms of admissions (assuming the work is good)? I mean, it's not even really academic..

only if the department evaluates it and considers you a valuable asset to the college. they'll write a note to the admissions officers which will strengthen the presentation of your talents

hmm. interesting...

what if i have an "unconventional" performing art (one that is not mentioned in the forms)? would they still accept a video? =/

they probably would. I'd suggest you email the admissions office or contact them by phone.

just a word of caution- remember that the supplment is due a month in advance of hte rest of your application, so have your tapes/slides/CDs ready ahead of time. Sounds like a silly tip, I know, but I missed the deadline last year.

how do you get an idea of what level they're looking for? I've looked at their website already, but I'm afraid that my work isn't good enough. Plus, art is sort of subjective.

I know people on this board say otherwise, but it explicitly says on the Stanfords admissions website that if you're submitting an arts supplement, you SHOULD have already received some type of recognition for your work in the state, regional, or national level.

yeah.. i have national recognition, but.. egh. okay. thanks =)

Thanks for the answers.

I guess I now have a few problems...

I don't have an actual teacher or mentor - I just learned on my own.

What category would ball juggling fall under? Dance or drama? (There's no performing arts category)

They expect recognition - do they want us to list whatever recognition there is?

Thanks.

What they mean by recognition is that they don't want you wasting their time with stuff that won't sway your application.
