Fingers Crosses for UNC

out-of-state, which puts me at an extreme disadvantage.

attend what was recently a top public high school in the country (we got bumped after the whole IB thing got added)
GPA: unweighted 3.92, weighted something like a 4.5?
SAT I : 2160- 740M/740R/690W(1510 on the old one- 800M/710V)
ACT: 35 (writing was a 9)

APS: chem (5), calBC (5), bio (5), US history (4), taking stats, physics, gov, and econ this year.

also: not a minority in any sense of the word.

You have very good chances I would say. Your GPA is strong and that ACT score is amazing. 70% chance (which is good for UNC OOS).

I applied EA and I had a 2140 SAT and a 3.7 GPA (I was OOS) but I was rejected. I think your great SATIIs and solid GPA will really help though!! Good luck :-D

Make that 100%. I got a letter in the mail today that said that the "admissions committee [is] very impressed with [my] achievements."
Woo.

HOO!

Possible scholarships then?

congratulations!

I got deferred with a 2110 SAT, 3.3 UW GPA w/ 10 AP's

CCRunner123, are you out of state?

I'm starting to feel really bummed, because I wasn't even deferred EA. I will have 7 APs (pretty much maximum), and all possible gifted/honors courses possible. My SAT score was good, my GPA solid (3.7UW), my essay (I thought was good), lots of ECs (w/ leadership), and good recs. What did I do wrong? UNC was my #1 choice, along with NYU (which I can't afford).

But congrats to bleumoose, good luck for a scholarship!!! My best friend got the same letter (who I talked into applying to UNC because I thought she might like...and who doesn't even want to go)

Yes, I am OOS, but of course numbers aren't everything. I worked very hard on the UNC application and I thought my essays were excellent.

Of course #'s aren't everything...maybe I should have spent more time on the app; I spent literally WEEKS on it though. But it was the first college app I'd done, and now that I look at it, I would have done some things differently. But oh well.
