This story has some holes. The property taxes on a home in NJ could be quite pricey. On a $35,000 net income, how will this family afford the property taxes in NJ, plus their other living expenses? OR is the “net $35k” after income and property taxes?

To the OP, you need to talk to your parents about college expenses…and what they are willing and able to pay annually.

As a rising High School junior, it’s good you are thinking about this now…but as pointed out upstream, lots can change in the next year or year and a half. You need to concentrate on your GPA, junior year PSAT score, and SAT scores…take the SAT in the spring. You might want to consider the ACT as well.

In addition, if you can’t raise that SAT, there are some fine schools that are test optional. You might want to look at these as well.
