-Berkeley - Slight Reach
-William and Mary - Match
-U Penn - Reach
-Duke - Reach
-Northwestern - Reach
-Brown U. - Reach
-Cornell U. - Slight Reach

You should choose some more matches/safeties...it's way too top-heavy

There's a whole board for this type of topic...

you applied to every ivy except dartmouth? why not just throw that one in, haha there's no extra essay

sudaneya4ever:

UCB: Reach (out of state)

senior yr classes: ap english lit, physics honors, ap euro, ap pysc, ap calc AB, adv. composition

All of them are reaches except for Georgetown, Tufts, NYU, Northwestern and Cornell. You have a lot of leadership positions but fairly low SATs for Ivy colleges. And yeah, why not Dartmouth?

i dont know.. a) Dartmouth is sort of obscure.. i never met anyone who went there and have never been to an info session for them.. and b) i got letters urging me to apply from all the other ivy league schools.. which i realize doesnt mean i would get accepted but they came into my radar

i figure if you're going for prestige, might as well make a clean sweep for all the ivies... then again i guess it doesnt matter, but would you really choose cornell over dartmouth?

i wouldnt choose cornell over anything if i have a choice, to be honest.. i mainly applied to it out of pananoia about the rest of the schools

What's so bad about Cornell?

do you have any back ups

cornell is amazing, just as other schools on your list are

I think Cornell is a great school.. it's just not high on my list because of it's location and it's strength in what i want to pursue is pretty weak

i think you should consider applying to Virginia Tech, as it's a pretty good school, and you're instate. i definitely think you need more safeties on your list. perhaps you should apply to James Madison, but that would be an extreme safety for you.

i'd say you're probably in at William and Mary, and definitely Virginia Tech (if you choose to apply, and maybe with some merit aid) for sure. NYU is is a match. the rest are slight reaches to reaches. it would've been better if you had 700+'s in all your SATs. however, i think your ECs are pretty dedicated and concentrated, but that won't make up for your SATs.

what school/county in virginia do you come from?
i'm from Robinson Secondary in Fairfax County

Dartmouth probably doesn't have the name recognition you seem to be after.

I think Dartmouth has more name recognition that william and mary.. a school that i actually would really like to get intl

am i really going to be rejected everywhere?

no, you have an extremely good change and William and Mary. Since you applied to so many schools, and you are a good student i'd say you have to get into at least two of the schools you applied to. However i wouldn't be surprised if u faced a total shut out from the ivies.

In my opinion, you should apply to at least a definite safety based on the responses so far. Maybe you should try a local one like University of Virginia? You would fare well in their applicant pool.
