Finished first year at UC Santa Cruz, now want to go back to JC

I have one year at UC Santa Cruz under my belt so far and wish to spend next year taking classes at a community college then transfer to one of the two Cal Polies. Observe and add to this, would you kindly?

edit: I want to know whether they consider GPA from UCSC, and if they do, then whether they average the GPA's from UCSC and junior college.

Yes, they will consider your total GPA history, including UCSC. Yes, the GPA get averaged.

The Cal Polys are very competitive. I don’t know the exact GPA cutoffs for your major (or your major), but it is not unusual to need a 3.7+ to get into many of the competitive majors. For 2009 at SLO they list a 3.32 as the average transfer GPA…BUT note that each year that number has likely gone up and would be low for competitive/impacted majors.
