Some how I dont see this topic being disscussed too often.
But given the cost of Med-School I think this should be on
a lot of people's mind.

For a good student with 6 or more APs is it reasonable to
finish BA (not engineering) in 3 years and head to Med school.
How many students do it? How much is this discouraged
by UG or med schools?

Or as an alternative is it possible to finish course work
in 3 years and keep 4th year only for MCAT and admission work.
The idea is to avoid high fees of ivies for one year. How feasible
is this idea?

Whether or not you will be able to graduate in 3 years depends on your major. Most people will be able to complete the premed requirements in 2 years. However, we all know there's no such thing as a premed major. You will have other course requirements outside of premed.

It can be done, but it could make it more difficult since you're last year is when you really step up on non-academic factors (ECs which have proven to be very important)

Thaks a lot for all the input.
Are there any statistics those tell the number of candiates who finished pre-med requirements in 3 yrs and were admitted to Med-school (not BA/MD).

I would say that it is 'discouraged' by the med-schools in the following sense. When it comes to transcripts, med-school adcoms want to see high grades, and are not particularly impressed by how difficult it is to get those grades, just as long as they are high (this is why engineering students are particularly handicapped when it comes to med-school admission - engineering classes are extremely difficult and the grading is very difficult, yet med-schools don't really care about that). If you want to graduate in 3 years, you will probably have to work harder during those 3 years, and you will probably get lower grades than you would if you spread everything out in 4 years and therefore had more time to study for each class. Med-school adcoms will punish you for those lower grades. So in that sense, the adcoms discourage you from graduating early.

Now, if you can graduate early and still get stellar grades, then more power to you. But most people aren't able to do that.

^^^ dude, why do you always write the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over ? come up with something new.

Well, lucky, let me put it to you this way. Why do people keep asking what is essentially the same question over and over and over? Yet I don't see you getting on their case.

Look, if people keep asking the same question over and over then I think I am obliged to give them the same answer over and over. If people keep asking the same question, so I will keep giving them the same answer.

You say that you want me to come up with something new? Huh? What's worse, giving the same answer to the same question, or giving different and conflicting answers to the same question? You tell me.

Finally, I would say that if you don't like what I write, then don't read it. Nobody's forcing you to read my posts. Let the people who want to read it do so.
