They're doing Fire Inspection again.
My only question is, do they charge you for a violation?
Are they allowed to look in your closets?

I don’t think so. Over Winter Break they took one of my extension cords (I was stupid and accidentally left one there when I meant to bring it home), and my RHD kept it for me until I was back on campus and able to retrieve it. Wasn’t fined. And if Fire Inspections are anything like the Winter Break checks, they’re not allowed to look inside your closets.

K. Thanks.
I find the whole Fire Inspection for the dorm where I’m staying kinda redundant cause all of the furniture is made of wood -,- ; any amount of paper is not going to make the room anymore flammable than it already is…

Haha true that. If they really wanted to prevent fires we’d have tile everywhere, brick walls, and metal furniture.

But I suppose they have to at least try and prevent stuff.

No idea about the dorm fire inspection, but the city of Ithaca now charges the following rate for building inspections.

10 dollars per room, plus 5 dollars per violation.

Extortion is what it is imo since commercial buildings are required to get one every year. They used to charge like 40 bucks total no matter what.
