firefox has taken over my computer...

yeah, so basically nothing on my computer works but firefox... ever since installing FF3, i've been getting random crashes of both programs and the computer

and now i cant even uninstall it because nothing works >.<

anyone have a solution? I can't even reinstall my OS...

Can you download programs?

[Download AVG Free Edition 8.0.173 - FileHippo.com](http://filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/)

Download, install, and run it.

If not,

[Download IBM - Hitachi Drive Fitness Test 4.14 - Quick, reliable method to test SCSI and IDE hard disk drives - Softpedia](http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/IBM-Hitachi-Drive-Fitness-Test.shtml)

download and put it onto a CD and boot from it. I would check with [HelpOnThe.Net: Tech Support Guy - Free help for Windows XP, Vista, 98, and more!](http://www.techguy.com). Register and post your question in Software.

edit: First go to techguy, and if nothing, do the fitness test.

How is it that you can’t reinstall your OS? You can always reformat.

Why do you need anything else?

firefox didnt do anything, and you can always reinstall as long as you have the cd, and you probably just downloaded a virus yourself while USING firefox, not because of firefox, because you were tricked into clicking a link or downloading a file

so in summary,
you probably caused this problem, not firefox

and UnleashedFury is right,
why do you need anything else?

No, I did research; it was firefox that caused it. I had to attempt reformatting about 20 times(probably more) before it finally worked. Also, what does it matter what I use my computer for? Some things in the browser(such as active x, java, and flash) weren’t working either.

…Not a chance Firefox interfered with reformatting. Sorry, but if you did it properly (off a bootable disk) there is simply no logical way Firefox could have interfered with it. I’d check your hard drive for issues.

You probably didn’t reformat correctly (or at all).

Reformatting your hard drive 20 times or more would take more time than this thread has existed for.
