First appointments out for 2009

I received my appointment today...I already had a presidential nomination....anyone else get there letter yet?

If only I was still in High School... The board won't even look at my file until after they get this semester's grades, which probably won't get there until after the New Years... Just makes life difficult... but on another note, congrats with your appointment, I wish you the best of luck at the academy...

Heyitsme: Congratulations on your appointment. Had you previously received an LOA?
Either way, enjoy your holiday and give thanks.

Just received my nomination letter on Saturday, so I hope to receive the appointment letter soon. Anyone else have an LOA, nomination, and waiting for the appointment? It will probably be some time after the first of the year now that the holidays are here.

heyitsme, CONGRATULATIONS!

Navgirl,
Daughter also has nomination, loa, and is waiting for appointment letter. Her appt letter for West Point came saturday. Good Luck on your decision!

I'm also in the same situation. LOA and nomination but I was told over the phone about the nomination and have not received the letter yet. Just waiting now. Congrats heyitsme! and Congrats to you as well Navgirl and your daughter shogun! You all must be extremely happy and proud! Enjoy the holidays :-)

Thanks twoofme! Keep us posted! Hopefully, we'll be receiving that appointment real soon. :)

Way to go, guys! We better hear the minute that letter comes in the mail.

Shogun, I should be getting my appointment from WP any day now, I would think. Was it a big package or a small one?

Marines
The package from west point was sent priority mail, just barely small enough to fit in the mail box.

The Navy seems to be a lot slower than WP in updating their candidate website. My daughter has a nomination for both from her congressman--it took 2 days to show up on the WP website (and her appt was dated 3 days later) and it's been 12 days now and still nothing showing on the Navy CIS. I noticed that they have been changing the Navy website as well and added a "resubmit" button next to her already submitted pae from summer seminar--anyone know why? Are they asking that she send another one in? if so, why wouldn't the one she did well on at summer seminar be enough? Interesting doing a site update in the middle of the admissions process.

Shogun: Our son's Candidate Information file was also updated with the "resubmit" PAE. He took the PAE at summer seminar as well. I was going to email the regional director but discovered that the previous regional director had been deleted and a "not assigned" notation had been inserted.

I am going to give it a couple of days to sort out. If it doesn't change, I will contact USNA admissions.

my son found out that the resubmit button next to the PAE submitted date is a new feature and is entirely voluntary. A candidate can resubmit a new score if they want to; but they only need one passing score. If you click on the candidate bulletin link at the bottom it takes you to a page that explains this and other changes to the CIS.

My son received an appointment at the end of November and it still isn't posted. It could be that the MOC sent letters of nomination to the candidates but were delayed in sending the information to the Academy??

parent 0110:
Do you mean "appointment" or "nomination"?
CM

candidatemom:

Sorry about that, I guess it was wishful thinking on my part!! He received a nomination, not an appointment.

parent0110: Thanks for clearing up the PAE resubmit question.

Your comment about the delay in getting nominations into the USNA databank is consistent with Shogun's earlier message where he says it has been nearly two weeks since his daughter's nomination and still no update of her candidate info.

aspen... shouldn't your child be the person emailing the regional director or contacting admissions? after all this is their application, not yours.

scitsailor: Valid point.

If I am not mistaken, nomination's are not due to the Academy until sometime in January...It's quite possible the MOC has not sent them to the Academy yet. But why worry if you have one, hopefully I'll get mine tomorrow or Thursday.

2009 is weak
