First choice Columbia, looking for some input

<p>I know that writing a bunch of numbers and clubs isn't going to decide whether or not I get in, but out of sheer curiousity, I was just wondering what people think. Columbia is by far my first choice, I'm applying early:</p>

<p>GPA: weighted: 97.9
Class rank: Top 8/205 (school does not do ranking) possibly top 5 I dont know
SATs:
Math - 690
Verbal - 710
Writing - 660<br>
Math I - 670
Biology M - 680
French - 640</p>

<p>All accelerated except for history

Music:
-Accomplished pianist of 13 years: Winner of NJ State Competition, accepted as possible participant on "From the Top" show on NPR, Teen Arts and State Teen Arts for 4 consecutive years, etc. Resume to be sent with application.
-Choir President (10, 11, 12) Chamber and Concert Choirs (9, 10, 11, 12)
-Madrigals acting and a cappella (9, 10, 11, 12) "Jester" main role (12)
-Started a chamber group with two girls from school (9, 10) One goes to Columbia, if you see Lyndsay Kugler tell her I said hi

<p>I know my SATs are weak, but Im not taking them again, I don't think I'll go up and I hate them so much. If Columbia doesn't let me in becuase of them, then I really don't care. I'm sending a CD with 4 piano songs and a vocal song that I played and sang to along with a detailed resume. My essay is on Ecuador and pretty good so far. Recommendations will be very strong. Interested in Environmental Biology = rare major at most schools, and talked with head of music department. I think I have a lot to offer to the school (singing, music, maybe crew) so we'll see. Just wondering what you think. Thanks.</p>

<p>Wow...it seems like your really interested in Columbia. Someone so dedicated to the school and to his activities has as good a chance as any. Plus all of your extracurriculars are awesome. It seems like your pretty good at piano so thats a big deal. The CD should show the admissions people a true talent of yours that most people aren't able to show in their application. I wish the best of luck to you but Im sure if you keep a positive attitude and stay comitted to school and your extracurriculars that you will pull through. All your stats are pretty solid...i know what you mean about not wanting to take the SAT's again they are a pain. But your GPA and everything else shows you are comitted to school and are a very well rounded person with sports and such. Stick with it you have a good chance!</p>

<p>I think you have a shot. You should try to portray your musical abilities and the crew. Columbia is so bad at sports they are always looking for good students like you who can also contribute to the athletics sector of the school. Good luck.</p>
