First Choice

What's your first choice school?

Choate...but i like Hotchkiss too

andover
loomis
kent

u?

Exeter

then Deerfield, then Andover then Choate.

I'm not sure! Since I've only been to Andover, so it's harder to choose, but it would probably be: SPS/Andover, then Taft/MX, then Choate, but I would gladly attend any of them. :)

i think its rly brave to apply to schools uve never been to
i couldnt do it lol

they are alll great
im in the same boat that i have language requests
like im doing AP JAPANESE next year so ya i need to go to andover or ya
i have to drop the language but i would gladly drop jap to go to loomis

no real first choice. all schools i saw left me with good impression. i hope to get a chance in april to revisit and then make the call. tough to decide based on the first visit and interview. the schools in NH are a little more desirable due to home location. of course i am luckier to have so many good schools within an hour: sps, exeter, andover, groton, holderness, governors, middlesex, lawrence academy, saint marks, milton, etc.

I really like both schools (milton and exeter), but for really different things that the other doesn't have. I'm just hoping to be able to become more opinionated about it through revisit days for both schools.

Kent, then probably Deerfield. I actually kind of want to stay near home, so I may just end up going to Foxcroft or Madeira if I can get in. :]

What did you think of Kent, Sara?

Kent was beautiful, really beautiful, in my opinion. I loved Kent, the atmosphere and everything. Kent was laid-back, and the students were friendly and happy!

You guys probably all read D'yer's Please Read this before posting thread. Take it to heart. Be careful what you say your first choice is because i know for a fact that a few AESD etc school representatives look at this site. You should do it in tiers or not say it at all.

For BS:

Andover, Exeter, Deerfield, Choate dominate the race

Taft, SPS a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiit behind.

The Chicago day schools you aren't interested in so i won't list them.

Happy New Year!

Why don't you like SPS as much as the other schools?

Jonothan- why are you not looking at Exeter?

Jonathan, Did you look at Exeter?

I'm not really sure.. I've just heard (yeah.. i know haha) that it's really math and science oriented, somewhat nerdy, and the kids have a ton of stress.

rbupe and peaparent, what other schools did you guys look at? Right now I'm applying to Andover, SPS, Taft, Choate, and MX, but I'm also considering Hotchkiss, Groton, and maybe Exeter.

Exeter isn't as nerdy as you'd think- yes we all study, but its also a lot of fun. The math and science programs are well regarded but the humanities are also strong (on par/ better then andover/sps because of the Harkness table).

We also looked at Choate, Groton, SPS, and Lawrenceville. We liked them all, but really liked that the Harkness method is used in all classes at Exeter. It has to be a good fit for YOU, though.

What did you think of Choate, Groton, and SPS, peaparent?

rbupe, do you know of anyone that is taking two foreign languages? I take French and Spanish and continuing them both is really important to me.

Yes!-I know several people who are taking two languages at Exeter. You can take two languages with some careful attention to when/how you will fulfill requirements.
