I don't know if I should apply! haha. That's a lot of schools - Taft, SPS, Andover, Choate, Exeter, Hotchkiss, MX, and possibly Groton? ahhh

Andover first...Hotchkiss second
i have no hope for the rest of the 3 schools on my list haha

ya i think im dropping one of the schools

imay add another but yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

but i don wanna go there

HELPMEEE
i just wanna go to all of em lolllllllll

johnathon r u still going to apply if ur ssat scores dont improve????
u should go to middlesex!!!!!
im repeating myself

A female friend of my older son went to Exeter and pretty much partied the entire time. It drove her mom crazy because, of course, her grades dropped. Her first course of action as a freshman was to start dating the senior lax captain. She absolutely loved it, never felt overly pressured (this, from speaking with her recently at a Christmas gathering while she was home visiting from law school...she did her undergrad at USC, not certain where she is now). I know this isn't ideal, but looks like she's on the road to success and she didn't let the pressure get to her....not even as much as she should have, I gues..

Yeah, I'm still going to apply if they don't improve. :)

ok POwer to u

Yeah, I wish I would've applied last year even if I would have gotten rejected. It would've helped a lot with this year's applications, and shown commitment and persistence. ahhh if they knew how many hours of research I've put in this haha. I should write a book. :D

i think u have a shot at middlesex
u have amazing ec's but,
the annoying SSAT's

dont worry about them tho if u study ur fine
like i got 82 one time but 96 the next time so its all a processs

have u considred hiring a tutorrrr
it was rly common in tokyo
have u scheduled interviews?
if u havent i wouldn't start on the apps yet because they may be booked and dont havve room

rbupe- both SPS and Andover use the Harkness method in the Humanities departments as well.

An additional word about the Harkness method. While schools like to, in a sense, boast about them, it is really the students and teacher who make the discussion flow. Sure the tables can facilitate a good discussion, but it is much more dependent on the class itself.

Actually, many schools use the harness method. If you visit the schools, many tables are round. It's just that almost ALL/most of exeter's classes are around the round table. Like, when i visited middlesex, their history class i visited was around a round table. They had a great conversation.

Jonathan...I went to Groton...Any specific questions...I loved it!!!

Great!! :)

I would be applying for 10th grade...

What did you think of the students at Groton? I've heard they're stuck up.. How are the dorms for tenth graders? Is it true that it's pretty easy to take two foreign languages? Is it full of legacies? How is the diversity there? Does Groton offer intramural programs for crew and squash. If not, are there any new players on the JV team?

Thanks a lot! :)

I loved the kids there. There are some stuck up kids, but no worse than any other school. The kids that go there are very open and willing to accept. Tenth grade dorms are just like 12th grade dorms. They are spacious and bright. A lot bigger than 8th and 9th grade dorms. Diversity is on the lacking side but I know there has been many meetings (students and alumni) about the diversity of the school. As far as sports go they have a III team for most sports (squash and crew included) and it is basically all beginners (although they are called III teams everyone can play on them up until 6th form)

If you are interested in Harkness, L'ville has it...I love Harkness, the method really enhances my learning, and it builds confidence and a friendly, yet competitive atmosphere.

sorry if that seemed a bit off-topic, but I knew somewhere in this thread people mentioned interest of Harkness haah

what is sps like? I didn't have chance to go there and i really wanted to ! hwt's the campus like? what are the people like? dorms? food? etc?

Nelly, my friend from PASS goes to SPS and I could give you her email if you want it. She's freshman now.

do you think she'd mind that some random person was emailing her?

No, she's pretty cool.

What I did was message random people on facebook and they all gave me a ton of information haha kinda weird but I got what I wanted :)
