What should you do on the first day of high school? The summer before? The day before?
Thanks!

Cry.
It’s a rite of passage.
I’ll wait for the less realistic replies to trail in.
…What are you supposed to do?
Treat it like another day of school…
Enjoy middle school because high school isn’t really that bad, it’s just that bad. Hopefully you enjoy some subjects, for me it’s math and english, or you’ll find no interest in school. My last two periods, spanish and history, are so boring and easy. It’s not any different other than the fact that classes might jump as far as workload is concerned. Expect a quiz two weeks in lol
Yeah, I agree! Eighth grade was a magical time of dreams and laughter in comparison to my first two years of high school. Take advantage of all your middle school friends, teachers and memories while you still can.
Oh god, middle school was so carefree and easy and grades didn’t matter as much and it feels like a dream. Freshman year is actually pretty simple too, even with all honors, though just keep in mind what grades you’re striving for.
The first day of high school, I was completely lost… heck, the entire week, especially if you’re in a ginormous school. I focused more on trying to find my classes and maneuver around the school more than anything else.
Actually, this may happen. Don’t expect any teachers to go easy on you b/c you’re a freshman / school is just starting. I had a teacher give me a project on the second day of school ![]()
I think you’ll probably have a quiz by the third day of school. Especially if you’re on block-scheduling, in which the pace is quicker.
Go to school.
Or you could get a head start on senioritis and skip school.
@CE527M Best comment I’ve seen all day, gave me a good laugh lol
Don’t be discouraged if you start bad- that’s a big tip. I started off with a 77 and 81 on my two math tests and haven’t gotten a B since. Teachers will likely start off tough to weed out those other people. Just know that now every point matters now. An 89.4 is a 3.3 and a 90 is a 3.7
92 is a 4.0 on a regular class scale.
These comments may sound scary, but you get used to it pretty quickly. Middle school was a jump from elementary; high school is a jump from middle school; college is a jump from high school. Soon it becomes second nature, and before long you’re coming up on the next jump, except you’re more prepared for it than you think you are.
@Anish14‌ @MissSuzyQ‌ @SirSly‌ Not my 8th grade life. Uh no. My middle school had all the high school drama + even the queen bees would cry over B’s. 7th grade was the year for my school. 8th grade is just bleh
@MissSuzyQ‌ @Anish14‌ Quiz grades, I’ll survive, nothing new. I just care about the overall grade
How would you all explain public high school to someone (me) who has always been in private schools?
Just…school? Probably with a lower concentration of motivated students.
High isn’t all that bad. Everyone’s saying that it’s horrible and all this stuff, when really its not. For me, I loved my freshman year of high school, but I guess it’s different for everyone. Don’t be scared at all! You’ll love high school so much better than middle school; the fact that you’re around more people and finally getting the choice to mold your schedule the way you want is great! I suggest the day before THE first day, do not sit and fret about it. That will only make it harder on you. The only thing that’s kind of challenging is the workload. It is totally different than middle school work, but if you are a good student you should do fine. I’m currently a sophomore, and I find that high school gets more fun after the first year. Don’t worry!
It’s not any different, I don’t know where you come up with it being ‘fun’ from. It has many more opportunities, but the fun really starts in Junior year, but that’s when your toughest year should be lol
@thelittleswimmer private school protects you from public school. trust me
