So there was a post about this a few years ago but I feel like the question was never answered.

I’m interested in the gallery and visual arts themed tower and I love the set up of Yosemite so I hope it will be in yosemite next year! But I’m really freaked out by the idea of getting a room on the first floor. I feel like that would ruin the whole thing for me. Is it easy to switch from the first floor to another floor in the same tower? Is it easy to switch to a different themed tower? Is it easier to switch to a red brick? If you switch out of your room does that mean you will probably be in a triple in your new room? Do you think the gallery theme will be in Yosemite again?

Well when we toured tower zero the first floor had no common room and I couldn’t really tell if it had both genders or what. On the first floor the halls of rooms just open up to the outside where people walk through to get to their other tower. It’s really weird. I mean they’re closer to that little study room but it’s not the same

Is there a common room somewhere that I just didn’t see?

Hmm, well I’ve never been inside Yosemite, only Sierra Madre. I’m guessing they’re similar? But I still don’t really remember what the layout was like inside, it’s been a while. I think the only common area I remember is the area you first enter the building into. You could possibly switch if a spot opens up on another floor. If you switch, it does not necessarily mean you’ll be in a triple, it just depends on what type of room the spot opened up in. Switching to a different tower is also possible if a space opens up. Sometimes they want you to have some sort of valid reason for switching though. But if you say you think you’d have a better social experience, that would probably work. No idea about where the theme will be or if they’ll still have it. I think the themes are more to try and get people with similar interests together. They don’t do that much themed stuff really. I don’t think being on the first floor would really be that bad though. I mean, you could always just get to know some people living above you and go hang out with them.

The Man Cave!! My daughter was in Yosemite Tower O in the 3rd floor (co-ed). However, the guys who lived on the first floor were very much a part of the Tower 0 family. I’ve seen several of her photos with these fun-loving guys included. I’m not sure how they personally felt about not being on a co-ed floor, but they never seemed to be isolated.
