First Gen

Anyone know how first generation factors into admissions? Does it help a little, a lot…?

I think it doesn't really matter. Most schools look for second, thirds, fourth, etc as more "beneficial" to their school.

It helps for sure. How much will depend on the school.

You're thinking about legacies, buddy. The op is asking about a first-generation college applicants (as in, the parents didn't attend college). And, to set the record straight, it's a decent advantage -- and will help you especially if you're "borderline."

bump please
