<p>Fist generation and immigrant status are two different things. First gen means you are the first in your family to attend college. If your parents attended college in another country, you are not first gen.</p>

<p>First generation takes into account on both mother’s and father’s side of your family. To be first generation, you would have to be the first from both sides.</p>
