First-Generation College Student

On many applications, it asks if one is a first-generation college student. I think USC and the UC application have this feature (for the UC, maybe in the scholarship section). I will be the first in my family to go to college in the US, but my dad was the first ever in my family to go to college. He went in a small country that doesn't have a very good education system, but his degree is equivalent to a Bachelor's and almost a Master's here. Would it be alright to say that I am a first-generation college student?

No, it doesn’t matter what country a parent went to college in, it still counts as college. You are NOT a first gen college student.
