"First generation" college student?

Many scholarships/college applications are asking me if I am the first in my family to attend college. For example, many colleges have "legacy" scholarships where if your parents or grandparents went to that college, you're eligible for such and such scholarship. My problem is that neither my parents nor my grandparents attended college, but my great Grandmother graduated. So am I considered a "first generation" college student or does my great Grandmother's attending college count?

(I know it may seem like a "duh" question, but every college I've looked at always refers to parents or grandparents in this type of situation--great grandparents are never mentioned.)

They care about your parents/grandparents because those are likely to be the people who helped raise you, and whose education or lack of education most shaped the environment that you have lived in.
