To my understanding, it is 5000 per year?

According to the website: “Students who are the first in their families to attend college will receive a $20,000 scholarship over four years and a guaranteed paid internship for their first summer.” https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/empower

So $5,000/yr sounds correct. Someone might want to call Admissions and ask how the scholarship is disbursed exactly - all at once or evenly over the four years of attendance.
