About 16% of all MIT undergraduates are first generation. How much of an advantage would I have for admission to MIT, if I were a first generation college student with a low income? I have the academics needed to get into MIT, and have many EC's including ones that depict my passion for autism. All my rec's are phenomenol. I am Asian, however.
Since MIT is need blind, do I need to talk about my family's low income in one of my essays?
Do I really have an advantage being a first generation college student?

It’s part of the overall picture of your life. MIT will in general take significant obstacles that a student has overcome into account when evaluating them.
