Also, how do schools know if you're first generation. Can't a student just lie about it

A student can lie about any number of things on a college app.

There is not first gen box to check. Schools ask for the college history (school, when attended, degree (if any)) of both of your parents, this includes college in the US or any other country.

Yeah, none of my parents have been to college. If it’s so easy to lie, then what happens if someone is caught lying. I’m asking this because I am a first generation student but I don’t want to have those privileged students who had both parents who went to college, but lied about their attendance. I know that this is a pretty biased view. I was just hoping that I would have an edge being a first generation

So do you think I have a high chance of getting into UCSD or UCD. If i get rejected to either of these college, I would either attend a Community College or Cal Poly SLO

UCSD - high match
UC Davis - match/low match

you have an under average SAT1 for these schools; however, i will be surprised if you didn’t get into at least one of these schools with that high of a gpa. one or two good science sat2s would help you, especially if you are applying as a CS major.

First gen college student applying to UCs is very common, so don’t expect it to be much a boost.
You can’t predict how strong the SATs will be for this year’s applicants this so you need to apply to a few more UCs.

Though your sat score may not match, you may take sat2 as some sort of help. Beyond these, I wonder if you are going to apply for financial aid. If not, you might be more competitive.

I’m apply to davis SD SB SC, SLO, and LA + Berk just for the heck of it. And if it’s in comparison to my AP classmates, I am one of 4 people who are first generation.
