Can anyone tell me if I am a first-generation student? I am not really sure if I am.
My dad went to community college and my mom highest education was high school. Since my dad went to CC, am I a first-generation or no?
UC’s define First Generation as parents with no college. Since your Dad went to community college, then you are not First Generation.
If he graduated with an associate’s degree then I would say no. But if he did not graduate and just attended, I would say yes. All in all, you list where your parents attended college, and they will take community college grad into the mix when considering your app. UCs by the way love kids who come from community colleges and love giving them an opportunity.
