First Generation students

If your parents graduated from a college that's NOT in the U.S, does that mean that you are a first generation student? And, does that help or hurt your chances of being admitted?

No. I don't believe you are first generation.

And no it won't hurt your chances, it just won't help them.

i would have to agree that you're not first generation -- which is unfortunate because it would have probably helped -- but it wont hurt you either...i should have just said "the same as bourne" haha

So, country doesn't matter? If someone's parents graduated from any place in the world, he/she is not first a generation student?

I believe your question was answered.

your parents went to college. you are NOT first generation.

But, chances are you are an immigrant, or at least first generation in the US. That is a whole other category that some colleges pay attention to.

Good luck!
