First Georgetown Acceptance...

Georgetown is very yield oriented; they want to make sure that those they accept will matriculate if admitted, which is because Georgetown pays zoning penalties if they overenroll (and underenroll?).

anyone else hear recently? I'm still waiting... I applied to the college...

does anyone know how many people applied to SFS?

I'm also patiently waiting and, nspeds, correct me if i'm wrong, but msb acceptances last year seem to have came out around may 16th. At any rate, at least those msb and sfs applicants have the comfort that no acceptances (to my knowledge) have been received by anyone on at least cc. And, i remember someone saying there was only 1 wave of acceptances from the college so far, so there shouldnt be a need to worry (as of yet :p).

I have a friend who was an MSB acceptance, found out this week.

Yes, I believe there was only 1 wave of acceptances thus far. When I spoke with admissions on Monday they said the goal was to have all decisions out by 2 weeks before June 1st this year. If that wave were the only acceptances they wouldn't really need to wait like 2, 2 1/2 weeks to send out just rejections. There will be more acceptances.

so good news...
last year, about 322 people applied to SFS and 52 were accepted....thats a 16% acceptance rate

im hoping that this year will be similar

found out through email that I was waitlisted for the MSB. not good for me at all because I have done terribly this semester. this is like a recurring nightmare. ah well, good luck everybody else.

how did you find out through email?

At least you still have a chance. :p I doubt it's the case that just because of 1 bad grade, they would revoke their offer.

How'd you find out through e-mail, btw?

what were your stats as well?

I got in.. the letter was dates the 27th, but I didnt have a chance to check my mailbox for the past 6 days. Applied to MSB.

3.6 college GPA :( thought I could supplement this with a good essay
30ACT.
The email was an informal notification by a member of the MSB transfer adcom I met during a campus visit. And I STILL didn't get in! lol. That's at least a good sign for the rest of you. I should have done better I guess. I'm not too bummed because I was accepted to another school, but I prefer gtown.

Congratulations.

Psssst... I would choose UChicago.

I received an acceptance from Georgetown, the college of arts and sciences today.

Current Freshman at NYU, first semester GPA : 3.6
High School GPA : approximately 2.8 at a very competitive boarding school
SAT: 1410

Note: Not too many EC's, but some decent ones, community service etc. I applied EA from high school, was deferred, waitlisted and then rejected. My sister graduated from Georgetown in 04 which probably helped.

Pending: Amherst, Brown, Boston College

You mean you had a 3.8 High school GPA, right?

No, I mean 2.8. My high school was the number 4 school (#1 boarding school) in the country at % of class going to HYP. The "valedictorian" of my class had about a 90 average (we don't use GPA)....not to excuse my cumulative GPA...but my college grades will show the difficulty of my high school. Not to mention my high school has a strong relationship with Georgetown and they understand the grading.

Congratulations!

I might just see you in the fall: )

Congratz Congratz!

Thanks, good luck to everyone who has yet to hear.
