First Interview in a few days (II)

Confession: It is my husband and I who are so nervous about our kid’s first interview.
My child thinks everything will be okay but we are terrified.

He is younger than usual rising seniors and he looks like a middle school student. (We hope he grows fast mentally and physically in a year.)

I know there are many college interviewers on this forum.
Would you share your thoughts if you interviewed younger students before?

I haven’t been an interviewer but my daughter went to quite a few and I think the general consensus on CC is that they aren’t that important anyway. If your child isn’t concerned it may not even be worth worrying him by going over some of the typical questions. Or you could find some of the common questions (in the College Admission part of CC, I think) and have him think about them a bit. Some are reflective questions that can be hard like “how would your friends describe you”. It’s not worth worrying!

I was a bit worried for my shy/modest son. I had created a resume to help him get started on college apps, and I had him take it in a folder in case the interview got to an awkward lull.

You know what? He did just fine. He enjoyed his local interviews and learned some more about the schools. They were low key and infomrative. He never needed to open the folder.

I was terrified whem my daughter interviewed for a scholarship, i thought she had not prepared, etc. She did just fine.
