Hey guys vie got my first ever job interview on thursday at 6 and I'm kinda nervous. I really need this job to help with the family income and I've been searching for one for almost a year. It's at Bi-Lo, not really luxurious at all but I definitely need the money not only for my family but there are things that I really want but just can't get like a car or some new xbox games...
Please give me any tips/suggestions you have!

Answer questions honestly, and try to turn your negatives into positives. I’m starting my first job in a couple weeks, and my interview was pretty lax. But remember to dress up a bit like a nice shirt and nice pants with non sneakers/gym shoes would work.

It is likely they will ask why you want to work there (not just a job). You need to explain why Bi-Lo is a good place for you to work… what you have to offer… not what they have to offer you. You could mention that you want to help your family, but don’t mention that you want to buy (useless) toys.

Good luck.

When I applied for my first job, I made up a mini-resume that listed my name, contact info, volunteer work, ecs, my interests, why I wanted the job, my education, I had first aid and cpr training so I phot copied the cards onto the resume, and I had 3 references that could vouch for my character/work ethic…make sure you ask if it’s okay to list someone as a reference and how he or she would like to be contacted. I was one of 5 people hired out of about 30 applicants and I think this is what did it because I felt very akward during the interview and didn’t think I would get the job. Try to stay relaxed and listen to your interviewer and ask any questions…be interested and engaging.

thanks all of you. if you were wondering, the interview was way shorter and easier than I expected and I got the job. I start training tomorrow in the morning

Congrats! I’ll hopefully have my first interview early next week, so I thank you for asking this question!
