The site says that once you submit the common app, you can't change it for that institution. I've been planning to submit it as early as possible, so I'm kinda worried about this. What about test scores taken after initial submission? Also, what if I become involved in some new extracirricular activities after I've submitted it, and want to let colleges know? Is it impossible to add these things?

thanks a lot.

Do not send in your application if you plan on taking more standaridized tests.

If you have new extracurriculars that are somewhat significant, just send the college an update. No big deal.

You shouldn’t submit it months before the deadline for precisely that reason. By all means, start working on them now, but don’t submit until a few weeks before the deadline.

Yea don’t submit it as early as possible because you might have other things that you want to add to your application. I guess you can send colleges an update, but it’s much more convienent if you just wait until a couple of weeks before the deadline to submit it; therefore, you can just add it to your common app.

You’ll send test scores through the testing company anyways, so don’t worry about that.

Many colleges welcome updates on activities through mail or email after you’ve applied. Check their websites or call them to know what their policies are.
