Hello, I am a student at the University of Michigan. I am a first year student and am taking Organic Chemistry I honors. I am not doing as well as I like in this course and I was wondering if getting a B in this course would hinder my chances at medical school admission. Thank You.

I would love to know when a B became "not doing well". Of course it would put you slightly below the applicants who earn the A but other aspects of your app could still make you a very strong applicant.

B in orgo at the Univ. of Michigan is alot better then you think. Orgo has always been considered the pre-med weed out course, which basically means kids dont do well and bail out of pre-med. So that means aloot of kids are getting lower then you and probably few are higher.

Your B especially at the Univ. of Michigan will not be looked down upon.

If one B is going to hinder your chances at med school, then I'm pretty much screwed.

haha, yea man good call

yeah I also think I'm probably going to get a B this semester in orgo, but I feel like if I can improve next semester, that'll really look good even if the B itself kind of sucks...

damn a B in honors orgo is doing awesome..dont worry about it.

i dropped out of my ochem halfway through the semester cause i was getting a low C, even with spending all my free time studying for it. Got As in all my other classes so far, so im gonna try it again in the summer, when hopefully I can focus all my attention on it and do better

Does anybody know if taking Ochem during the summer is looked down upon in medical school admissions?

ur grade would just have to be reported if ur getting credit for the class.

And odds are if you did bad in the summer with that much time, the med school would not like it at all.
