FIRST POST, and VERY important question!

Hey guys first post here. I am at a local university right now that I just got into(a few years of college behind me). After browsing around on the computer i found out that some accredited universities offer an online degree program. In your guys opinion, do you think employers would look upon this less if they were to find out I graduated from an online program opposed to the university I am at now???? The guy on the phone for this school said the degree diploma does not say 'online degree' so the employer would not know. I would love to take online classes for my degree and be able to work my job i have right now and have my own schedule. But I would have to withdraw from my current university to attend this fully online degree bachelors program. Two schools for accounting that offer online degrees are Colorado technical university and florida metropolitan university. Sorry for the lenghty question but any ideas, or advice would be greatly appreciated. THANKS AND HELLLP.

A degree earned completely online might be suspect but there are some online degrees in certain fields from certain schools that are recognized and respected. Example: an online associates in Veterinary Technology from a community college in Florida is designed for people who work in Vet Hospitals. They do their labs at their Veterinary Hospital under the supervision of the Veterinarian. This program is quite popular and well respected by Veterinarians. It is a three-year associates degree full-time.

There are schools out there that scam students with easy degrees that won't mean anything...diploma mills...so be careful. I have never heard of the two schools you named. There is a list somewhere on the web of these charlatans that scam students. Look for it.

I see ads on the web for someplace called University of Phoenix I think. It might be legit.

For almost all of the usual majors, a conventional university provides a much better education. I would stay at your university.

online degree?? Please don't do that!!!!

I have seen good things about some of those on-line degrees. Take the time to do a Google search and see what you turn up.
