First quarter grades

Do we need to send our first quarter grades as additional materials if we applied EA? Do they need them before making decisions or just a midyear report if admitted (to confirm that there hasn't been a big drop in grades)?

I think your school should be dealing with that/they should be sending your quarter grades in now as stanford finalizes its decisions. like the transcript though it’s not up to you.

I don’t think you need to send anything but I could be wrong :/

I emailed the person in charge of credentials about first quarter grades. They said this, “Hello,
If you would like to send your first quarter grades you can fax them to
650-723-6050 with your Common Application number.”

So it’s optional.

I called Admissions a few weeks ago to ask about this. (School GC was preparing to send them automatically, but before seeing the grades DD worried that they might not be as good as junior year. It ended up being a moot point - her grades were consistent - but we called Admissions to check the policy.)

They said that if quarter grades just show “progress” towards a semester grade, they do NOT need to be submitted. Admissions will wait for the midyear report, which is required of all applicants (and admits) at the end of the first semester. They apparently don’t see it as an important grade report unless it’s a semester or end-of-year grade. However, if submitting first quarter grades will boost your application, it wouldn’t hurt to submit them. It might be too late now for EA applicants, though.

Well mine aren’t better than the others so it’s probably not worth sending them! :)
