Does anyone know the procedure for sending first quarter grades? Do I ask my counselor to do so? My school does NOT work off of semester grades--my first quarter (10 weeks in duration) has ended.

Will Yale call for them if they are interested? If they don't, what does this mean?

Thanks, I appreciate any help! Good luck to all who are applying.

Yes the counselor should be able to send them electronically through Common App. It’s been a while but I think Common App can notify them via e-mail when they are due if you added your counselor’s e-mail info when you applied. I would make sure and follow up with the counselor though.

The majority of US high schools are on the semester system. As a result, colleges ask for a Mid-Year Report from your guidance counselor. Unless your first quarter grades already appear on your transcript, there isn’t a procedure to send in first quarter grades. Your guidance counselor will complete the Mid-Year Report using your first quarter and second quarter grades and send that form to colleges (either by hand or electronically) at the end of January, beginning of February. This is standard procedure for both SCEA and RD applicants.

hahaha, I know the feeling sometimes Philo! The funny thing is, this has been one of my best quarters (yet with the hardest classes) so I hope they do…

I don’t know whether my counselor was prompted to by the school, but, regardless, my 1st quarter grades were sent in recently. They were sent well after my transcript was sent; my transcript was sent sometime in October.

So, if you’re school uses quarters and you’d like to see your grades be sent, I’d definitely at least ask your counselor.
