Does anyone know if Georgetown looks at first quarter grades for early decision candidates? Also, if you're deferred to regular decision, does anyone know if they look at first semester grades? Thanks

They definitely look at first semester grades if you're deferred. That's what that "mid-year" school report is for. Due by Feb something. I'm pretty sure they do NOT consider your 1st quarter grades when applying EA.

doesn't g-town have EA and not ED?

yeah, its EA, and they dont look at first quarter grades for EA.

Quick question. I'm an A student but not an A+ student. I'm approximately 10/340 in my school. the top 1-7ish are mostly A+ students. However, I'm taking the most difficult schedule possible, while 2-3 of the people above me are taking one less honors. Even though I'm not the best of the best, would I still have an above-average shot of getting in?

GreenDayFan, a major thing they look at is the difficulty of your classes, and as long as you're in the top 5% of your class, you're in good shape, so I wouldn't worry. And all colleges reweight your grades, so your GPA will be evened out with the people that took easier classes, so don't stress!

all they show on transcripts is our letter grade, A-(90-92), A(93-96),etc. so would that make a difference? I know my unweighted number average is like 92-93.

hmm...i'm not positive about all that because all schools weight grades differently, but a lot of schools look at as A as being an A and dont care about the + or - system--that's how it is at my high school, and I know a lot of colleges are the same.

thatd would be terrific because i take 6 classes and of them i had 4 A-'s, 1 A, and 1 A+. A- is worth 3.9, A=4.2 and A+ = 4.5 so it kept my gpa down a lot (4.05 out of 4.50)

hmm, thats a funky grading system!
i don't know about GU, but a lot of colleges give 4.0 for As in general, then award quality points for rigorous classes, like APs, IBs, and sometimes honors and magnets.
Happy Thanksgiving All!!

Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for the input. oh and sorry for hijacking this thread lol.
