First Quarter Grades

I can't seem to find anything about this one the website, so does anyone know if we should send in our first quarter grades if we are applying early decision.

It’s early action - and I don’t believe it’s required. Only midyear report by February 1.

That’s right- we’ll ask for a midyear report from all applicants in January, but no need to send them until that becomes available.

If we send in the first term grades, will they be considered for admission? (for EA)
Thanks

I’m wondering about the same thing. Should I send in my First Quarter Grades to try to boot my chances? (I got 7 A’s and 1 B)

Thanks

I don’t think they will, since some schools don’t operate on quarter systems.
So wouldn’t that be a huge disadvantage to those who don’t have quarter grades?
I think mid-year grades would be requested - but that would be after admissions.

I told my GC to send mine in today so I hope they’re considered. Straight A’s in 3 APs and 1 honors class :).

wait…you’re only taking 4 classes?

Many schools (not mine) have four classes per semester.

Really? I have seven classes this semester, the minimum at my school is 5. Are first quarter grades, if sent in, ignored? Because I’m pretty sure that my counselor sent them out to all of my schools.

Motion’s school is most likely on the block system like my school. I’m only taking 3 classes this semester (two year-long) and taking 3 more next semester in addition to the aforementioned 2 year-long courses for a total of 6 this year.

Well, I’m on a block sched too, but I have 8 classes (7 academic). I’m sure everything balances out but it’s neat to see how different high schools are set up.

We have A/B day block, so four classes a day that alternate. Eight classes at the same time.

Do you think the midyear report could be make or break? Well I’m sure the answer is yes…but I’m a little worried. I’m taking 4 ap classes and the rest are honors. I ended up getting two B’s - One in AP Chem and One in AP Physics…and I almost ended up with a C in AP Physics until he put in the rest of his grades at the last minute. It’s the worst report card I’ve ever had…even if that does sound a little overdramatic…My mom keeps freaking out saying that it’ll look bad. What do you guys think?

I’m also on a weird schedule. It runs on a 6-day cycle. You can take classes that are either 6 days a cycle (1 full credit) or 3 classes which are two days a cycle (.3 credits each).

So for example…On days 1 and 2, I have AP Chem, Chem Lab (2 day cycle class), AP Physics, Study hall (again 2 day cycle class and no credit), lunch c, AP gov, H Calculus, and AP Lit.

The main classes (The math, ss, science and english mostly) are usually the 6 day cycle classes, while the electives are 2 days (Like on days 3 and 4 I have Keyboarding and Physics Lab during 2nd and 4th period respectively)

It’s not as confusing as it might seem, but middle school was worse. It was a completely rotating block schedule. Like you would have 1.5 hours of math one day, the next would be science and so on and so forth. I hated that.

But the longest class I’ve ever taken is my WWII class at the local college, which is 3 hours long from 6:30-9:30 at night Z_Z It is torture.

Haha that’s my little rant on the topic :P

Litlhurry, that’s a sweet schedule! Umm, midyear report. Idk. This semester has been the hardest for me despite not getting senioritis or anything, so I’ll just keep trying and hopefully it’s not make or break but who knows?

zakuropanda, keep trying! I know how difficult the IB program can be towards the end of high school (I was in it last year). I’m sure all of your effort will pay off in the end.

Thanks, Romanticism! Well, Math HL has definitely instilled a fighting spirit in me so I won’t be giving up any time soon. :)

As far as IB itself goes junior year was harder I think. The classes this year are easier, but IB + EE + applications all combined is very overwhelming.

Ah, yes. What S2’s teachers described as “light” homework for TG weekend comprised a full page list when compiled. Every class this year is IB, AP or combined (so they cover material for both). No rest for the weary!

He has two HL World Lit papers, HL Bio IA and EE all due on the same day in December.

We hear college is easier. I expect that is indeed the case.
