My son is currently at sea. It's been great being able to track his ship while at sea. My question for you seasoned parents/travelers, do they get any leave at the end of their sea duty before reporting back to the Academy? Thanks for any info.

Kansas Mom...Keep your fingers crossed. With a little luck, your son's sea duty could end just as KP's Fall Break begins, and he will be home with you for a week. With a little bit more luck, he could get a couple extra days and be home with you longer. I think a lot of it has to do with the cycle of the ship he is on, whether he can get to an airport. My son, on his first sea duty, was doing the Mediterranean route, and ended up flying back to NY from one of the countries in Europe. Gosh, I forgot which one already! So, best I can say is, it's a wait and see situation. Remember, fingers crossed!

LFWB has been gone since June 21 and will have well over 120 days is and hoping to get two weeks break before going back. But my guess is that Coach Alger will have something to say about that and he'll head back so he can practice and get caught up with the rest of the team. So maybe we'll see him for a day ot two.

No vacation for my Mid who is on the last leg of her second sea year. In fact she gets into port 4 days after classes begin with her first meet that weekend. Nothing like hitting the ground running to keep them on their toes.

Looking at the schedules, my guy "could" have three days before classes begin. Might be wishful thinking on my part thinking they'll fly him back while on the west coast. If they choose to fly him back from Hono where he began this grand adventure, it will be on 11/5 or 11/6. I think its safe to assume that we won't know anything until the very last second. KP has no idea what they do to a control freak. Sets us spinnin'! :)

You mean Jamzmom, you just might like to plan something around some dates?

I am finding that this program is not only character developing for KP10 but for me also.

Am wrong. Yet again. The boy says he will be on his ship on Nov. 5th & will fly back from Honolulu. No break. Will miss the first two day's classes he thinks. Oh well... Can't wait to see him on Thanksgiving break. Atleast its not as bad as 8kidsmom's daughter. Talk about an exhausted Mid! Good thing they are young & rather gumby-like. Get off the ship, unpack, pick up books & go dive in a competition. Geeeezzzz!
