Hi everyone!
So I'm a bioe major and I'm also in the GPH cp scholars program. These are the classes I'll be taking this semester:

math141 (4 credits)
chem135 (3 credits)
enes102 (3 credits)
bioe120 (3 credits)
cpsp118F (1 credit)
fmsc110S (3 credits)
*I AP'd out of math140 and engl101

I'm taking a total of 17 credits, which is the max freshman can take first semester. I originally had 2 other classes that I had to push to next semester.

Do you think this courseload is too much?? From what I've heard, freshman aren't recommended to take more than 15 credits so as not to overburden their schedules. Does anyone have any feedback for me? Thanks in advance!!

It really depends on the individual, but in my opinion, and I’m also a BIOE, that seems a little tough for the 1st semester. Generally speaking, yes, freshman shouldn’t take more than 15 credits 1st semester. I would push ENES102 or CHEM135 off until 2nd semester and you can take that instead of ENGL101. If your pre-med than don’t push off CHEM135 or you’ll be behind in the CHEM sequence. PM me if you have anyother questions about what classes/teachers to take since I’m also a bioe.

I agree that it really depends on the student and what program you’re in. Check out the 4 year plan for your major and see what credit count it recommends for your first semester.

I also noticed that it seems like you’re taking all STEM classes. While that might be perfect for you (last semester all my classes were related to international politics and I loved it) it could definitely get really repetitive. You should consider switching one of those out for a gen ed so you can get some variety :)

I’d suggest that you go ahead and start with this, and be prepared/willing to drop one of the classes early on after you get all the course syllabi, etc. Also, listen to smwhtslghtlydzed. It was the non-STEM classes that sometimes kept oldest D sane during her toughest semesters.
