First semester GPA

so it may sound like I'm just freaking out, but I looked at my final grades and my finals managed to bring a few A's down to B+'s and now i have a 3.46. My goal had been to get a 3.5 and I know med schools usually average at least a 3.7. Here's the breakdown:

Chem Lecture: B+
Chem Lab: A-
Multivariable Calc: B+
Intermediate French: A-
First Year Writing Seminar: B+

is this going to hurt my chances of getting in to med school unless I get like a 3.9 every other semester? My school is trying to stop grade inflation

Is this your first semester of college GPA? If so, don’t worry about it. It is easy to bring your GPA up just a little bit…you have plenty of time, just focus on studies and don’t let your grades slip 2nd semester and you’ll be fine.
