First Semester Grades for Seniors

I am just wondering how important first semester senior grades are in the admissions process. I know a couple of people who got into UCs with really bad first semester grades. How do they impact admissions and beyond?

The UC’s do not consider 1st semester Senior grades in their application review unless you are contacted about a supplemental review.

Rule of thumb for the UC’s is to maintain a 3.0 Weighted GPA Senior year for all the UC’s except UCB/UCLA, no D’s or F’s and you should be fine.

UCLA/UCB want a 3.0 unweighted GPA with no D’s or F’s and no more than 2 C’s Senior year.

Fail to meet the requirements, your acceptance could be in jeopardy. All acceptances are provisional so do your best Senior year.
