I got a letter asking for my grades for the first semester this year. I assuming this means I am on the cusp of admission, which is better than not I guess. I got an A in AP Microecon and Macroecon, an A+ in Graphics, and a B+ in Dual Enrollment English (through the local community college). What do you guys think? Thanks.

not to crush your spirit or anything but i think they sent that letter to everyone.
you should be fine though! colleges usually want to see your 1st semester grades just to make sure you haven’t completely slacked off since applying.

Actually I have a friend who applied and didn’t get that letter. I got the letter two days ago and submitted my grades. I think it’s a good sign :)

Oh really? I got it too. I just assumed it was like a mass letter that they sent to everyone because I submitted my Midyear report like a month ago. Hopefully it is a good sign then.

JessEllen, If your friend’s HS already sent them, that could be why you did not get the letter. S’s school automatically sends mid year reports to schools that require them through Common App. USC is one.

iamzwwalrus, are you sure your school sent them? We twice requested HS send mid year transcripts to a school that did not specify they required them through Common App. Two weeks later, they had not sent them!

@iamzewalrus I have several friends who applied to USC as well and none of them received the letter, but it wouldn’t surprise me if what you say is true. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

@OhioMom3000 My friend and I both go to the same school and you have to make a request in order to send a transcript.
