Hi,

This year, although my schedule appears weaker when looking at my junior yr(I had 7 APs compared to only 4 this yr), the actual individual courses are considerably harder. Do you think getting the following 1st semester grades will ruin my chances at Georgetown?

AP Calculus -B
AP Literature-B
AP Biology-B
AP Art History-A
Honors Finance IV-A
Honors Spanish III-A
Criminal Law Dual Enrollment- A

I currently have a 3.8 GPA unweighted and a 4.95 weighted.

Thanks in advance,

It won’t ruin your chances, but it certainly can’t help

Are you kidding? You’re taking 6 Honors/AP classes, and you’re worried about a few B’s “ruining” your chances at Georgetown? Don’t be! Most schools - including Georgetown - would much rather see an applicant who has B’s in several advanced courses than an applicant who has straight A’s in regular classes.

Also, selective schools (such as Georgetown) look at a lot of different things. 1st semester grades from senior year seem insignificant if you think about everything else the admissions committee looks at: grades from your first three years of high school, extracurriculars, essays, teacher recommendations, etc.
