First Semester Senior Classes Question!!

Hey all thanks for giving this a read. I'll get right to it:

I currently want to drop one of my classes, Chicago History. It is only a semester class and "supposed" to be my only blow-off class of the year. It is and isn't.

Before someone says I am a slacker I'll give me class schedule for reference:
0-Gym Class
1-AP Bio
2-Law (Can get college credit)
3-Chicago (1st) AP Psych (2nd)
4-Food Time!
5-AP World
6-AP Literature
7- Pre-calc (Not honors level math)

These are the reasons I want to drop Chicago from my class list:

1) I like history... I learn nothing from this class about the city's history. So I have no interest in it.
2) The teacher is belittling and very unpleasant. Also uninformed about what he teaches
3) We are not given any tests, instead we receive a 20 page-packet each week to complete for that Friday on topics that don't even pertain to Chicago History. I hear these sheets are from academic/remedial US History and geography classes.
4) It is an easy A; however, the "busy" work that he gives takes a little over an hour to do each day, if I ration it out throughout the week, to complete on time.
5) He wants us to read 5 books for the semester and write essays on them.

For the work load of the class I feel it’s too much, all things considered, and is hurting my other grades indirectly due to what the teacher demands. I am getting As and Bs in my other classes and a C+ in this class. Coupled with work from my other classes, it’s just too much.

I actually want to have a life senior year and not stay up late doing "busy" work. The study hall that would replace the class would lighten the load immensely considering I'd have time to study for my AP classes and could probably bring all of them up to A's with the extra time.

Am I just complaining or is my "dropping" justified? Also, will this greatly hurt my college chances?

Sorry for the length of the post. Thanks for your time.

I think you should drop this class. It doesn’t sound like an important class, and you can take a better class with that time. I understand where you’re coming from, because I’m also a senior and don’t want to waste my time on classes where you don’t really learn anything. I don’t think your college chances will be compromised. Maybe you can switch out of the Chicago History class and take something more meaningful, like AP Psych the whole year…
