First semester senior grades out

Hi Forum,

Throughout high school I maintained a 3.9 unweighted GPA and 4.7 weighted due to my taking many of the offered AP classes early on, and receiving all A’s save for two B+'s Sophomore year. However this semester grades came out and I received straight Bs save for one class - for a total of 4 Bs. On top of this, I’m actually taking less AP classes than in previous years since I exhausted most of the school’s AP curriculum before senior year. I know that "Chance"ing for Ivy League schools is silly, but without providing information on my extracurricular activities, am I pretty much hosed for any Ivy League school? My GPA has only dropped to 3.8 and 4.6 respectively but I know that this drop in grades must not make for a good mid-term update. I am sending a letter to the schools detailing my health issues that led to this drop in performance, and I am wondering what knowledge/advice CC can provide me with to console me at this time. Information such as when mid-term transcript grades are considered during the admissions review, if they’re used to distinguish candidates, and how important they are vs. Sophomore/Junior year grades, would be helpful. Luckily I’ve applied to UCs which do not look at senior year grades. Thank you.

Additionally I’ve spoken with each teacher about my situation and how my collection of grades this semester is an anomaly vs. in previous semesters, and how I can possibly improve my grade, but unfortunately their only response is that they’ll consider changing my grade depending on my performance on the Spring semester final - which will happen after college decisions are out.
