First Semester Senior Year: 2 B's

I know this post has been done about a million times and I know no one will be able to give me a definitive answer as most colleges holistically examine applicants, however, I am hoping that with the small amount of information I can give some insight can be provided. I am currently a senior within the last few weeks of my first semester and am worried because I will most likely be getting 2 B’s. One of these B’s is in an AP class.
Will this hurt my chances of getting into a top school? I am applying to Yale REA. I have gotten only 1 B throughout high school before this, and that was my 1 semester of Junior year in AP Biology. My SAT score is 1440, and I have a few hooks I guess (first generation, low income, have a single mother of an immigrant.) I also went to a prestigious humanities summer program (TASP) and am Questbridge. If it helps, I am way more a humanities applicant and have made that extremely clear in my application. The two classes I could get B’s in are both stem.

Any help is appreciated!

No, every year we hear of students who make it in to tippy top schools with a couple of Bs on their transcript. Don’t worry about it.

Just don’t catch senioritis and slip into D or F territory later in the year. Colleges reserve the right to revoke acceptances for that kind of thing.

thank you

But realize with these harder classes, they will be harder (or faster) in college. Take this time to perhaps change how you study. In HS and in college, know that there are resources for you to use. Use them!

Ya that totally makes sense, but I guess a point I make is that because I am applying to schools that have mostly an open or flexible curriculum, I ideally wouldn’t have to take very many stem classes. I am exceeding in my humanities classes, which is what I plan to pursue.
