First Semester Senior Year - C's, Rescind?

I have never made a C before in high school. After the semester, I ended up with a C in AP Music Theory. Will this really hurt me when applying to colleges who ask for first semester senior grades? I'm not at all worried for the UCs or CSUs who rescind only when GPA dips below 3.0 or if a grade lower than C is earned.

My friend was deferred from UMich. His 9th-11th unweighted GPA was a 3.5, weighted 3.8.

10th-11th GPA is 3.6 unweighted, 4.0 weighted. He has been accepted to a couple schools already. Will two C's on his first semester senior year transcript (AP Calc & Lit) prompt schools to rescind his acceptances? He has had a couple C's before in freshman year.

Will my one C hurt me?

Nope, only several/straight C’s will hurt you severely.

I assume you are talking about schools where you were already accepted and are now being asked for mid-year and final grades.

So long as your Cs are not coupled with behavioral or mental health issues that your GC notes on the mid-year report, they should not result in recision.

The worst I have heard of in the case of moderately lower senior year grades is a request from the school asking the applicant to talk with the dean or a counselor before classes begin in fall to discuss the poor senior year performance.

Thank you! I am so relieved to hear that!

I’m assuming that the two C’s my friend received WILL hurt his admissions chances in the RD round for UMich, is this correct?
