First Semester senior year grades

Recently, Los Angeles Unified School District changed their computer system. The new system was no properly tested before implementation and as a result multiple classes and schedules across the district were mixed up (i.e. kids had empty classes and some classes had 45 kids while others had 10). So at my high school, classes were being balanced and 7 weeks in, I got a few of my classes moved, one of them being my AP Calc AB class.

Currently, I have a D in Ap Calc A and with some hope I can bring it up to a C. My other grades go as follow:
Digital Imaging A
AP Gov: High C, will be B at the end of the semester
AP Lit: High C, will be B at the end of the semester
Leadership: A
H. Physio: B

So all my other grades are projected to be decent. My question in that will my D in AP Calculus affect my admissions to any schools (applying to UC's; CSU Long Beach, Pomona, SLO, Northridge, SDSU; USC, Loyola Marymount, Santa Clara U(EA) and Fordham(EA)). I am aware I can retake the course at a CC, which is what I plan to do but will my fist semester grades factor into my admission?

Absolutely. There is a big line you cross when you can’t pull a C. You have a serious problem in that the UCs really don’t like to see Ds and that will very likely mean no UC admits. I can’t see a serious chance at Pomona with that. Same with other privates this is an iffy situation. I would write your EA school and explain the situation, but it may carry more weight if your GC does.

as I am looking online, apparently i dont send them a mid year report and only send them a transcript once I get in. In that case, cant I notify the school upon admission

SDSU may ask for a Mid Year report if admitted and you SIR. My son had to send in a Mid-Year report in March after he SIR’d and his final transcript upon graduation. Most schools will try hard to work with you and will try not to rescind their acceptance but being proactive with your EA schools as stated ^^^above would help.

Most private colleges will ask for a midyear report.
LAUSD students get a little bit of leeway because their school system is so horrible (I think at some schools the majority students get D’s… and a 2.5 would actually be considered pretty good - not because classes are bad, but because students are ill-prepared, the environment isn’t conducive to learning, and the (dis)organization is unbelievable (no teacher, then a succession of subs, lack of classrooms/textbooks, etc).
But you won’t get that for a D.
Can you switch out of AP Calc and take Honors Calc or another calc class, or not Calc at all? Calc “marks” your program as most rigorous, but only if you get a B or more. It’s only required if you intend to apply to CalTech and HarveyMudd, which you aren’t. If you switch out of AP Calc, are there classes you can take and how will the grade show on your transcript (W, NC, D?)

Sadly, I can’t switch out of AP Calc. I’m in a Math and Science Magnet Program at my school, dictating I need to tae 4 years of math. So the only other class I can switch into would be AP Stats, which I cant. Im stuck with this class for the rest of the year.

@gumbymom since i already fulfilled the a-g requirements and this class is not “necessary” will they ask me to retake it or will they waive it off. I will tell them if i do receive the grade and I take full responsibility of it.
