Are the first semester grades much more important than the midyear report or do colleges really make an effort to take both into equal consderation?

anyone??????????

To me, it would seem that first semester grades are more important and used initially in helping to weed students out of the applicant pool. Mid-semester grades are more like making sure you're still on track and helping to decide between two close candidates.

Well, all schools require your first semester grades as part of the transfer app. Only some of them ask for mid-term reports on your second semester grades.

For those schools which do require mid-term reports, it's hard to say - unless someone has actual transfer admissions committee experience - how they use those.

They all eventually want to see your second semester grades, after you have been accepted, to make sure you have "made satisfactory progress."
