First-Time ACT Prep

I have never taken the ACT before, and I’m searching for the BEST book for a “first-timer”.
I’ve narrowed it down to The Real ACT and Cracking the ACT, and I feel they are the best two, but I feel like The Real ACT is just full of tests, without much other practice.

Any tips? And courses I should take?
What is the best way to prep? I’m most likely taking it in April.

I would definetly go with The Real ACT, it goes over the format of all the questions and the practice tests are extremely helpful, I was able to score a 28 my first time through with just reading over the Real ACT book and doing two practice tests. BTW if you’re gonna get another practice book with The Real ACT get Barrons 36.

The best way to study for the ACT is to practice with REAL ACT tests. There are 5 tests in the Red ACT Book, 3rd Edition. ACT released several tests in booklet form.

Time each practice session to simulate the real test.

English 75 questions in 45 min.
Math 60 questions in 60 min.
Reading 40 questions in 35 min.
Science 40 questions in 35 min

Score your test and review only what you got wrong after each practice session.

I suggest the following schedule:

Take 1 section each school night/with review for 4 nights/week.
Twice per month on a Saturday or Sunday take a full ACT test/with review.
