first time college applicant advice

Hi guys I am desperately stressing myself out over my admission essay, i'm an athlete and I usually don't stress out under pressure. I currently am hoping that I get into Georgia Tech, I want advice on the essay portion. Whether I should do long or short type essay, or the topic atleast. I'm a first time applicant and I really want to get in this school. Any advice? Please.

Have you registered with the NCAA? Have you signed a National Letter of Intent? See: [Georgia Tech Official Athletic Site - Compliance](Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets | Georgia Tech Athletics)

If not, then your athletic abilities are NOT going to help you when you apply to Georgia Tech. Athletics will be viewed as just another extracurricular activity like Speech & Debate, Theater, Robotics, School Newspaper etc.

FWIW: You apply to Georgia Tech through the Common Application, which doesn’t open their website until August 1st. You can get a jump on the essay questions though: https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/Docs/DownloadForms/2013/EssayAnnouncementFinal.pdf</a>.
