First-time freshman taking summer school

I'm going to be taking summer school at CSU Fullerton this summer to get ahead and was unsure as to how many GE classes i should take in the summer and then in the fall.

Also I'm not sure whether it would be more beneficial to take summer school simply to spread out my work load, or use it to graduate early.
What is the normal amount of classes/units that freshmen take?

For summer, classes usually move twice as fast. In a normal semester, 12-16 is pretty normal for freshmen. I wouldn’t suggest more than ~8 units (about two classes) over the summer, assuming school is your only commitment. It’s better to go light for your first term anyways, it’ll give you more time to adjust to school.

You should check with your school to see what the enrollment rules are too… some have unit minimums/maximums per term, or rules about summer FA and units, or housing, etc.

Later on, it might be more beneficial to do internships or something during the summer. If you don’t have to take summer classes every year, try and find something exciting to do!
