First time on site, need college help in general

I think I'm leaning toward business now over sport management.

I still think there's no way you're getting into UNC-Chapel Hill with a 3.3 being OOS. Even that 29 is a bit low for OOS standards.

I think OSU would be a good school for you if you want business. Their business school is fantastic, and you should be in line for some merit money in addition to the low tuition costs.

I would choose
1. Miami - check out the marketing. sports studies and management depts. I intend to pursue a similar career as you and attend miami
Private Message me if you want details
2. Ohio State
3. Bowling Green

Miami Ohio's Sport Management/Marketing program has more to do with the "History of sports" and learning about past events, as well as the social aspects of them. Not at all related to sport business. The head of the program told me this and told me not to apply there if that's what I want. And their business school isn't very strong at all compared to the Big Ten affiliates. All of the Big 10 schools are ahead of Miami for business, with every school in the top 25 but Iowa and Northwestern (has graduate business that's the best in possibly the nation). Miami OH is 47th.

I would advise you not to apply to Miami OH if you are pursuing a Sport Management/Marketing career, or even just a management career. OSU would be much better suited for you.

Now that I am in at OSU, I am looking for a few reaches to apply to.

What would you put my chances at for the following places?:
University of Virginia
Purdue
Indiana - Bloomington

Thanks again!

Edit: Im also open to any suggestions for reaches!

can anyone help?

No shot at UVA. If you got into OSU, you're going to get into Purdue, Indiana, and nearly all the Big Ten schools (except Michigan, Wisconsin, N'Western).

OSU is a great school for what you're looking for. They have a great business school. They have a fantastic Sport Management graduate program (if that interests you), as well as a superb graduate business school. And tuition is practically nothing for you.

I don't see the point in applying to other schools that are similar to OSU (like Purdue and Indiana), if you intend to do business, because of the value OSU offers. It's basically the same education for much cheaper.

If you really want a few reach OOS schools, Penn State and Illinois may work for you, and have good business schools. But their tuition is much more than OSU, and their schools aren't that much better (maybe .1 or .2 higher on a peer assessment rating).

Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa has an average SAT of around 3.5 and a 29 ACT would meet their needs, I don't know if they would meet yours though. It has a unique once class at a time, 3.5 week semester. You take just one class, finish it and start the next. I don't know much more about it.

Cornell University is outside of your reach today, Good Luck.
